Tuskegee Airman DVDs

Red Tails is the story of the Tuskegee Airmen, who were the first African-American airmen that the United States had.  This movie is currently in theaters.  If you can't make it to the theaters to see it or would like to learn more about the Tuskegee Airmen, the library has two DVDs on order that may be of interest to you.

In Their Own Word: The Tuskegee Airmen
Seventeen of the original Airmen came together to tell their story in a way never before seen: in their own words. The story is progressed by the different Airmen, each contributing an integral part without the reliance on narration and whisks the viewer through laughter and tears, all while telling a historic and inspirational story of hope and perseverance in the face of adversity.

Freedom Flyers of Tuskegee
Tells the compelling story of the first African-American military pilots who fought in Europe during WWII and against the racial inequality and discrimination they faced at home, despite their service and sacrifice. Also contains specials features including additional interviews and historical photos.

The library has both of these titles on order.  You may place a hold on either of them by coming into or calling any library location.  You may also place a hold by visiting the library's website at www.khcpl.org.
